Trump Invites Relatives of Injured National Guard Members to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The event led the administration to pause asylum applications and cease granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
