Performer Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Views Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Covid Film
Liam Neeson has given his voice to a recent film that questions the efficacy of immunizations and praises former government figure RFK Jr.
The Film's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a popular book written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the health crisis for assertions that the virus was linked to a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
Her writing partner, the executive producer, has previously authored books with far-right figure a known commentator. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Denial
A spokesperson for Neeson have released a response pushing back against claims that he supports anti-vaccine beliefs.
"We all recognize that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that cannot be equated to being against vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vax. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It noted that the star was not involved in crafting the documentary's editorial content and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the filmmakers.
Central Themes In the Film
In the film, the narration provided by Neeson makes several provocative statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It argues that "medical science has become deeply politicised."
- RFK Jr is interviewed saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it mentions a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Past Background and Current Disputes
The film also references a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, RFK Jr called on the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a new report from the WHO stating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past expressed strong support for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "an incredible achievement," noting that "The debate about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
