Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Abusive Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United just half a year after instigating disrespectful taunts directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds, has signed a contract with the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year time with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading insulting chants regarding Chris Wilder amid the club’s promotion party in April. Currently, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Previous History Involving the Striker and Wilder

The pair had a past before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

All seems to have been forgiven and forgotten with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front while Bamford looking to resurrect his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder commented back then: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with that. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we used to dish it out and accept it and that is part and parcel of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Playing Challenges

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the former Forest, Chelsea & Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
