An Australian man who jumped across a fence and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to more than a week in prison for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control informed local media.

He forced his way past photographers and rushed toward the performer and artist, who was participating in the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The singer has mentioned experiencing PTSD after a explosive incident at her show in the UK city in May 2017 took the lives of 22 individuals and affected hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Event security stopped him and pinned him down.

Wen later posted recordings appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "free."

Police detained him the following day and accused him with public nuisance, to which he confessed.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by a news outlet as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was incorrect to believe he would not face any penalties.

Grande has not addressed the case.

The co-star mentioned the situation to NBC, stating that she "just wanted to verify my co-star was safe."

"I think he didn't intend us danger, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to ensure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she stated.
