Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
