Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
