Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal glee, all while presenting engaging, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a new backdrop and ensemble in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant belief and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
