Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
